SOUTH CAROLINA — All cast and stunt players continue to qualify for the 20% rebate, as does South Carolina crew. The rebate for out-of-state crew is 10%, with a $3500 per person cap (representing gross salary of $35,000 per person). Television Series qualify for the full 20% wage for all employees and 30% supplier rebate. However, legislation has been proposed that, if approved, will increase the labor incentive to 20% for everyone subject to state withholding, with $15 million allocated per fiscal year. Employees can earn over $1 million, but amounts over $1 million will not qualify. In addition, a rebate of 30% will be available for non-labor production expenditures within the state; this will be funded with a $10 million allocation plus 26% of admissions taxes from the previous year.
For the current fiscal year, $11 million remains available; interested producers should contact Jeff Monks, the South Carolina film commissioner, for more information.
