The Illinois Film Office promotes and services film, television and commercial production in Illinois. Currently under the guidance of Managing Director Betsy Steinberg the IFO provides the following to the help build the production community in Illinois:
ILLINOIS FILM TAX CREDIT- Offering a fully transferable credit representing 20% of production budgets spent here, Illinois boasts one of the most aggressive film tax incentives in the country. The IFO guides production companies through the application process and helps them qualify for the credits.
LOCATION SCOUTING- The IFO has an extensive locations library that is open to the public. We also maintain an electronic library to provide immediate delivery of photographs to producers around the world
PRE-PRODUCTION- The IFO publishes a Production Guide available at no cost to filmmakers, providing extensive information about all production services available in our state.
PROMOTING DIVERSITY- The IFO is committed to helping productions create crews which reflect the diversity of our state. We publish a minority crew list and a minority vendor guide to help promote minorities. These efforts are spearheaded by the IFO's Diversity Officer, Joyce Kilburg.
