Additional Information from the Film Commission
First and foremost, Michigan is not financially incapable, and is currently paying out incentives from 2008! Please let that be clear. The crew base is increasing daily, with many transplants returning home, new arrivals from out-of-state, and a vigorous training initiative by institutions and filmmakers statewide, providing new talent highly qualified experience. It is a film friendly, location-diverse place to shoot a film or commercial. We have over 3000 miles of freshwater shoreline (most shoreline of any state after Alaska) , the incomparable 5-county, metro Detroit area , two peninsulas, and a film commission, crew and partners willing to walk or drive that extra mile for you every time. Locations wise, the state has already substituted for Maine, Boston, Southern California, Cleveland, San Francisco, Texas, Connecticut.
